The Durham Eviction Diversion Program is a partnership of Duke Law’s Civil Justice Clinic and the Durham Department of Social Services. The program uses tenant education, legal advocacy and rental assistance to prevent evictions and increase housing security for low-income renters in Durham County.

Partnership with Legal Aid, Duke Law’s Civil Justice Clinic and Durham Department of Social Services Program includes:

  1. Tenant education

  2. Legal advocacy - provides legal representation to low-income residents facing eviction. Most of the funds go to helping to cover rent that is still due while clients are going through the courts. The goal is to help them avoid eviction and remain in their homes. 

  3. Rental assistance to prevent evictions and increase housing security for low-income renters.
