Our 2024 Goal is to raise $20,000 towards Housing for New Hope, an organization dedicated to ending homelessness one person at a time
In January, we celebrated reaching our 2023 goal by raising $15,000 for the Caris Foundation in partnership with Legal Aid of NC to prevent evictions in our community. We're so grateful for the support we received, we were able to make a significant impact for many Durham families.
This year, we're aiming even higher with a new partnership with Housing for New Hope, an organization dedicated to ending homelessness one person at a time. We're deeply inspired by their mission. Housing for New Hope provides comprehensive services through five key programs: Street Outreach, Housing Locator and Navigation, Rapid Rehousing, Supportive Housing, and Affordable Housing. These initiatives not only help our unsheltered neighbors secure safe, permanent housing, but also provide the ongoing support necessary to maintain it. We are committed to supporting their transformative work.
Background
Housing for New Hope was founded in response to the needs of our most vulnerable neighbors. Our founder, Terry Allebaugh, opened Phoenix House, a transitional shelter for men, after realizing that many individuals exiting Durham’s emergency shelters were not successful in maintaining housing. He believed that the supportive services were critical to ensure long-term housing success.
Over the years, our programs continue to grow in response to the needs of our community and unhoused neighbors.
